Privacy Policy
Our privacy policy is incredibly simple: We do not collect your data.
Client-Side Operation
Knicknaks is designed entirely as a suite of client-side tools. When you use our utilities—whether you are hashing a password, formatting JSON, or editing PDF metadata—the processing happens entirely on your own device, leveraging your web browser's innate capabilities.
We do not send your text, files, or processing results to any backend servers. Once the initial application code is loaded, many of our tools can even function if you disconnect from the internet.
Local Storage and Persistence
To improve your experience, some tools may save settings or
temporary state (such as your preferred theme or recent tool
history) using your browser's localStorage or IndexedDB APIs. This data is stored strictly on your local hard drive and is never
beamed back to us or any third parties. You can clear this data at any
time by clearing your browser's site data.
Hosting and Analytics
While the application itself contains no tracking scripts or proprietary analytics payloads, Knicknaks is hosted on Cloudflare Pages.
Cloudflare, acting as our Content Delivery Network (CDN) and hosting provider, processes incoming web requests to serve the initial application files to your browser. During this process, Cloudflare may collect standard server routing information (such as IP addresses and request headers) in order to mitigate DDoS attacks and ensure network reliability.
You can review Cloudflare's privacy policy regarding their network routing infrastructure here: Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
Changes to this Policy
We don't have sudden plans to start hoarding data. However, if the underlying infrastructure changes significantly, this page will be updated. The core mission of Knicknaks—client-side, privacy-first tooling—will never change.
